Tom Brackenbury is involved with electric asset management and electric distribution engineering activities for Kingston Hydro.


Tom has worked for Kingston Hydro for the past 11 years.  Project experience includes substation design/build/maintenance activities, non-linear design analysis of distribution poles using SPIDACalc, design/construction upgrades of the underground electric distribution system in downtown Kingston and connection impact assessments for distributed generation projects of various sizes including a large 15MW Cogen facility, small FIT solar rooftop projects (10kW to 250kW) and microFIT solar rooftop projects (10kW and less).


Tom contributed to Kingston Hydro’s 2011 Electricity Distribution Rate Application to the Ontario Energy Board and is currently updating Kingston Hydro’s Asset Management Plan in preparation for the next rate application. Smart Grid and Distributed Resources are also areas of keen interest.
