During our last visit to Switch, we explored the fundamentals of geo-exchange heating and cooling systems, along with key design considerations. In this presentation, we will not only revisit those core concepts but also expand on them by sharing practical insights gained from recent installations. Since then, Podium has successfully installed systems at four additional project sites, each presenting its own set of unique challenges. These real-world experiences have provided valuable lessons in site-specific design adaptation, installation techniques, and system commissioning, offering critical takeaways for improving future projects. Additionally, we will discuss early operational experiences from the system installed at GEOcentral, Kingston’s first residential building utilizing geo-exchange.

Beginning in building restoration consulting and then performance design consulting for architects, she developed a deep understanding of energy-efficient and high-performance design. Her work spans projects of all sizes—from localized repairs to large-scale developments, including the construction of new hospitals.
Nastassja’s journey then led her to Podium Development, where she first worked in construction management before transitioning into real estate development. Today, she oversees every phase of the development process, from planning and approvals to construction and lease-up. Her expertise in design feasibility, constructability, and problem-solving has made her a key player in delivering innovative and sustainable projects.
