Keeping FIT: Bringing Together Residents, Municipalities, and Developers

Shawn was tasked with guiding the installation of four FIT solar farms in Drummond / North Elmsley. These were some of the first agreements to be settled in Ontario, and Shawn was effective at finding common ground among the residents, the municipality, and the developers.


Shawn learned that by keeping the community fully informed and responding personally, quickly, and effectively to all concerns he could “keep the peace” and create a win-win situation. Shawn was in the forefront of change in Ontario and has assisted in creating and supporting a positive reception for sustainable energy in his own municipality and demonstrating an approach for others throughout Ontario. Some 20 municipalities have requested information about his approach.
