Grounds to Heat: Recycling Coffee Grounds Into Home Heating Pellets

CEO, GreenCity Initiatives
Michael founded GreenCity Initiatives to assist in improving environmental health and to ensure a healthy and safe global environment. GreenCity’s goal with Super pellets is to become North America's leading processor of spent coffee grounds supplying clean, uniform pellets to greenhouses, schools, hospitals, businesses, and homes as an alternative heating fuel.

  Russell Horne
Project Lead, Grounds to Heat

Russell is a third year Energy Systems Engineering Technologist student at St Lawrence College. His passions include renewable energy, energy management and building science, and he seeks to bridge the gap between business and the environment. Russell sees Grounds to Heat as the perfect example of a program that has the chance to become a nationwide initiative.

  Cedric Pepelea
Student Researcher, SEARC

Cedric currently works on various green energy projects at the St. Lawrence College Sustainable Energy Applied Research Centre (SEARC). Cedric joined the St. Lawrence Enactus team to develop sustainable programs for the college and community, and is currently the green project team lead for Enactus. Cedric's goal in life is to bridge the gap between the technical world and the business world by convincing people that there is value in education, the environment and global sustainability that is more important than the “bottom line”.
